Namaste

Today I taught an early morning Salute to the Sun class at BBC Scotland. They happen to be just over the river (Clyde) from me and have a great gym facility. This was the first class out of a session of 10 and was most enjoyable.

Richard Hittleman set me on my yogic path in about 1977. He had a TV programme on each week. I bought his book, the 28-day exercise plan and followed it for the next 28 days. Even now I come across people (of a certain age) who did just that.

That was 33 years ago. As I taught the class today, I summed up the goal of yoga which it has taken me this long to understand.

It is very simple.

It is stillness of mind.

And I realise as the teacher I am not so much teaching them poses as opening up their minds to this possibility.

Have a good day.
