Here in Scotland schools went back yesterday. It feels like we are slipping into Autumn.
I really enjoyed stepping off the information superhighway for our stay in Italy, I rarely looked at my email and just enjoyed living in a real world. You soon realise that life goes on without you.
However, I am going to try and be more regular with the blogging as I know how frustrating it is to visit a site and find no signs of life.
The book world has trundled on. Still the debate over discounts and e-books goes on. My advice to anyone entering publishing with a view to working on paper books should think long and hard about it. The idea of pouring over text with a pencil to weed out bad grammar and misplaced commas is fast disappearing. But perhaps there are not many people still interested in doing that.
I think the problem with books is the discounting. Nobody wants to pay full price and the publishers went along with this. My daughter is desperate to buy a pair of Ugg boots and she knows she is going to have to fork out an inordinate amount of money for them. Yet she accepts this. It is pity we can't do the same with books. Just a consonant apart but a world of difference.
Anyway, I am back and I hope to be a bit more online.
