Hot, hot, hot

So far I have resisted the temptation to blog. Actually, it hasn't been a temptation at all. It is really nice to be away from the clutches of the internet and its ability to suck away your time. All I have been doing is chopping the undergrowth, clearing old water channels and swimming in the most beautiful open air pool in the world - Lake Como. And how easily the world gets on without me.

Today I taught my 10 year old how to make a classic tomato sauce. She is a great food lover like me and we munched on our gnocchi very happily. The phrase book editor in me cannot resist giving a phonetic rendition - nyuh-ok-kee (but don't pause at the hypens!).

bye for now

"nyuh-ok-kee"?? Pardon me if I say "nyuh-uk!" to that.

You have wisely arranged to be out of the country during the onslaught of free phrasebooks and CDs from the Guardian and Observer. Which, well, shall we just say they're not likely to pose any major threat to your own brainchildren.
