I have just been listening to Nod off in Portuguese. Again we managed to find a perfectissimo voice. This is not an easy thing when the voice not only has to be very smooth on the ears but also bilingual. In other words, the voice has to glide seamlessly from perfect English into perfect Portuguese.
We found the wonderful Victoria Willing in a rather bizarre way. The first thing I did in my quest was to ask the Italian voice, the equally wonderful Jessica Giuffre, if she knew any bilingual Portuguese speakers. Unfortunately she didn't.
Then Sue Tyson-Ward, our Portuguese author, suggested Victoria. She had done something for the BBC way back when and she gave me a contact at the BBC to follow up. But that led nowhere. So just to leave no Italian voice unturned, I emailed Jessica to ask if she had heard of Victoria...
Imagine my surprise (and hers) when she replied to say that Victoria just happened to be a friend of her best friend. Jessica had no idea that Victoria even spoke Portuguese.
Which means that you lucky people can share our good fortune when you listen to Nod off in Portuguese. It really is a joy to listen to (but I would say that, wouldn't I?).
