Deep down I fear I am mighty lazy. Who else would devise a language course you don't have to be awake to benefit from? But I seem to work incredibly hard for someone so lazy. I spend hours in frenzied activity just so that I can avoid the one thing that I am too lazy to do. Sound familiar?
In my case it is marketing. Which is stupid really if you are trying to run a business. The whole point of a business is making money. So while I can do the bizzo and produce something that is eye-catching, original and pretty fantazitobee, I fall down on the important bit - persuading potential customers to hand over their dosh in exchange for something that is well worth the price.
Which is where I am sure thousands upon thousands of start-up businesses fall down. There must be a failed start-up business mountain out there. The one that business advisors don't want enthusiastic would-be entrepreneurs to see.
I believe they need to add another stage to the whole process - a 'get your business into gear' category (or at least, out of neutral). That is the really hard bit. What's the use of a shiny new business if it is not going anywhere? Maybe they are harsh words, but I fear it is the predicament that many start-ups find themselves in. Particularly ones as idle as me.
Goodness, I even found myself facing the Dragons in an effort to avoid marketing the Nod offs to Scottish libraries.
