Spanish like you have never heard it

Yesterday we recorded the Nod off in Spanish with the wonderful Yolanda Vazquez. Spanish learners may know her from the BBC Espana Viva course. Our French speaker, Benedicte Paviot, was a hard act to follow, but Yolanda has done a wonderful job with Spanish.

The recording took place in London under the watchful eye of the hugely experienced and extremely fun Peter Rinne, our producer. Once it is recorded, he takes it away, cleans up any stray mouth clicks and adds music.

So we are on schedule to get the Spanish out later this month. Apologies to those who are still waiting, but I can assure them it will be worth the wait.

Tip number one for Italy

You can access the internet at tourist offices. It is generally one euro per half hour. Make sure you take some means of identification (passport, driving licence).

You can also buy wifi access - 6 hours for 10 euros. However, you need to be within 30 metres (or so) of the transmitter(is this the right terminology?), so check before you buy it. I also had trouble accessing it on my laptop even when sat inside the tourist office. I never found out why. Perhaps someone out there can enlighten me.

That's all for now.

La fine del silenzio

I realise I have committed a blogging faux pas, namely not saying that I was blogging off for a while. So apologies to avid readers (as though ...).

The truth is that The Publishing Cupboard transformed itself into L'Armadio Editore for a 5 weeek spell on the shores of Lake Como where work continued on the Nod Offs and others honed their swimming techniques.

Back in Glasgow, Chris Crawford manned what remained of The Cupboard, and many thanks to him for his amazing efficiency.

Next week I will be giving some tips for travellers to Italy. Mainly because I would like this blog to be a bit useful.

So ciao and blog in next week. Have good weekends.
